UPND Youth Leadership Condemns Political Violence

Youth leaders from the United Party for National Development across all ten provinces have pledged to eliminate political thuggery from the party's operations nationwide.

During a media conference in Ndola, Copperbelt Youth Chairperson Wallen Hinyama condemned recent violent incidents, including the disturbances in Chingola, stating that perpetrators will face legal consequences without exception.

Mr Hinyama emphasised that young party members throughout Zambia remain firmly committed to supporting President Hakainde Hichilema's administration, particularly highlighting the economic transformation that has stimulated substantial foreign investment in the country.

Jack Mwanga, representing Western Province youth, appealed to young people across the nation to exercise restraint and avoid violent responses, regardless of provocation. His Lusaka counterpart, Anderson Banda, issued a stern warning that the party will withdraw support from any youth members engaging in political thuggery.

Eastern Province Youth Chairperson Layson Nyirenda made a specific appeal to religious leaders, requesting they promote national cohesion through messages of peace and unity, noting Zambia's identity as a Christian nation.

Representatives from Luapula and North Western provinces, Nelson Kalengwe and Bruce Kanema respectively, thanked President Hichilema for prioritising road infrastructure development in their regions, demonstrating the government's commitment to balanced national development.

The unified statement represents a coordinated effort by UPND youth structures to distance the party from political violence and reinforce its commitment to peaceful democratic participation.
