North Western Province to Establish University

President Hichilema has announced plans to open a public university in North Western Province, the first in the region.

The President revealed this during a meeting on Wednesday with 26 chiefs from the region in Solwezi.

The government is in the process of preparing a budget for the construction of the university in the province, as well as in five other provinces which currently do not have universities.

The final project also will see higher education facilities established in Western, Southern, Eastern, Luapula, and Northern provinces.

President Hichilema stated that the days of funnelling funds solely into metropolitan areas is a thing of the past, highlighting the government’s commitment to extending development to rural areas.
