State Opens Inquest into Vesper Shimunzhila’s Death

Yesterday Zambian Police Spokesperson, Esther Katongo held a meeting with ZANASU (Zambia National Students Union) and explained that the Zambian Police will open an inquest into the death of fellow student Vesper Shimunzhila.

Vesper’s death shocked the nation when she died in October 2018 after demonstrating at an UNZA protest which ended in police teargassing dorms and reportedly attacking students.

“First, we are grateful to the Zambia Police Command for having kept us informed about the progress of their investigation from the beginning of our meetings with the Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja on 12th October 2018,” said ZANASU President Mischeck Kakonde
