ERB Rolls Out Mobile Fuel Testing Laboratory at 2026 Zambia International Trade Fair

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has introduced its new Mobile Fuel Testing Laboratory at the 2026 Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola, marking an important advance in efforts to guarantee fuel quality and protect consumers nationwide.

Addressing guests at the launch, ERB Director General Eng. Elijah C. Sichone explained that the advanced facility will enable the regulator to perform laboratory-standard fuel testing on site, wherever it is needed. This mobility will make inspections quicker, speed up responses to complaints from motorists, and strengthen checks on ethanol and biodiesel blending ratios. It will also tighten oversight of compliance right across the petroleum supply chain.

According to the ERB, the travelling laboratory marks a meaningful step in shielding drivers and businesses from poor-quality fuel, helping to confirm that products sold in the market satisfy national standards. Taking testing directly to the source allows the regulator to respond with far greater speed and accuracy whenever problems emerge.

Held under the fair's 2026 theme, "Bridging Markets; Building the Future," the initiative underlines the ERB's lasting commitment to earning public trust in Zambia's petroleum sector while supporting broader economic progress and continued growth in the energy industry.
