CDF Making a Real Difference, Says Chama After Chipata Tour
Permanent Secretary for Special Duties at Cabinet Office, Fumba Chama, has praised the impact of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Chipata District, saying the programme is making a tangible difference to people's lives.
Mr Chama made the remarks at the close of a working visit to Chipata, during which he toured several CDF-funded projects to see their implementation first-hand and assess their impact on local communities. Among the sites he visited were the Magwero Police Post, the Magwero Maternity Annex, Kauzu Primary School and water reticulation systems in Magwero and Feni.
Reflecting on the tour, Mr Chama said the visible progress of infrastructure and community projects showed that the enhanced CDF was responding effectively to the needs of the people. The fund, he noted, had been particularly transformative in rural and remote areas, where access to development has traditionally been limited.
He was especially struck by the way the programme empowers communities to identify and implement projects that respond directly to their own priorities. Commending residents for taking an active part in the development process, he said their involvement ensured projects reflected genuine local needs and contributed to sustainable socio-economic growth. He went on to stress the importance of sustaining and strengthening the CDF, describing it as a people-centred initiative that promotes inclusive growth and community participation.
Mr Chama ended his visit by meeting CDF grant beneficiaries and community members in the areas where the projects are based.
