Light of Hope Secondary Nears Completion in Livingstone
The Light of Hope Secondary School in Kalaluka Village, Livingstone District, is approaching completion, with most of the building works now done.
The school is being delivered under the World Bank-funded Zambia Education Enhancement Project (ZEEP) at a cost of K24 million.
Project Technical Supervisor Paul Kabanda confirmed that the entire superstructure, roofing included, had been finished. He added that steelwork, including the frames for windows and doors, was already in place.
According to Mr Kabanda, the build was moving along well, with sufficient supplies still on hand at the site.
For Kalaluka Village, the project represents an important step forward, as the community has never had its own secondary school. Local learners have so far been forced to travel considerable distances to reach one, a difficulty the new school should help relieve once it begins operating.
The response from residents has been positive, with many viewing the development as an investment the area had waited a long time to see. They voiced optimism that it would open up fresh prospects for young people wishing to further their education.
