Katete Council Invests K45 Million in CDF Projects

Katete Town Council has invested more than 45 million Kwacha in community projects across Mkaika and Milanzi Constituencies, drawing the funding from the Constituency Development Fund between 2022 and the present.

The local authority has also disbursed over 10.7 million Kwacha through secondary school and skills development bursaries during the same period, supporting more than 1,000 students.

The investment reflects the continued rollout of decentralised funding under the enhanced CDF model, which has channelled increased resources directly to local councils for community-led development. Mkaika and Milanzi Constituencies have benefited from a range of projects spanning infrastructure, education and skills training.

The bursary support is expected to widen access to secondary and tertiary education for learners across the district, with the more than 1,000 beneficiaries receiving assistance towards school fees and vocational training. The skills development component aims to equip young people with practical qualifications to improve their prospects in the local economy.
