Expanding International Opportunities for Zambian Engineers
Zambian engineers are now able to practise in 25 jurisdictions without having to complete additional accreditation or re-evaluation processes.
This initiative is in accordance with Zambia’s attainment of Provisional Signatory Status to the Washington Accord under the International Engineering Alliance (IEA), it therefore being the fourth African country to achieve the recognition.
Global opportunities for Zambian engineers have come as a result of the successful defence of Zambia’s application by the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) during the IEA Annual General Assembly held recently.
EIZ President Wesley Kaluba said this initiative positions Zambia as a trusted source of engineering expertise underscoring the country’s commitment to maintain internationally recognised standards in engineering education and practice.
Mr Kauba added the recognition will bolster Zambia’s capacity to export engineering services and expand participation in international trade.
He said that the status also assures the country’s infrastructure and engineering projects and supported by highly qualified professionals.
