Namwala Constructs Over 60 Classroom Blocks Using CDF

Namwala Town Council Chairperson Abel Moonga says the local authority has constructed over 60 classroom blocks in the district using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) since 2021.

Mr Moonga said that before the UPND government came into power, many schools in the district were neglected, forcing learners to study under trees.

He said the situation has significantly improved over the last five years through increased investment in education infrastructure.

Mr Moonga noted that despite Namwala spanning nearly 200 kilometres from the first ward to the last, all wards have benefited from development projects in the education and health sectors.

He thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for increasing the CDF allocation, describing the funding as a "game changer" for rural development.

Mr Moonga said Namwala has used CDF resources to complete abandoned classroom projects, construct maternity annexes and outpatient departments, rehabilitate roads, and install solar street lights.

Namwala Town Council Secretary Fred Munongo said the council successfully implemented several development projects between 2022 and 2025, including the rehabilitation of 10 boreholes, mechanisation of several water points, and the drilling and mechanisation of 15 additional boreholes.

The improvements in education and water infrastructure have transformed service delivery in the district, bringing essential services closer to communities that previously had limited access.
