CDF Skills Programme Empowers Nearly 200,000 Young Zambians

The Government's Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Skills Development Bursary programme has transformed the prospects of nearly 200,000 young Zambians since its launch in 2022, according to official figures.

A total of 198,559 youths have benefited from the initiative, receiving hands-on training in high-demand vocational trades including heavy equipment operation, welding, electrical installation, mechanics, agriculture and construction. The programme represents one of the most significant investments in youth empowerment in Zambia's recent history.

With the first K100 million tranche for 2026 already disbursed, new intakes are now underway across all constituencies nationwide, ensuring continued access to skills training for young people in every corner of the country.

The impact of the programme extends well beyond the classroom. Graduates are feeding directly into Zambia's expanding industries, with trained workers contributing to growth in the mining sector, agricultural development, construction projects and small-scale entrepreneurship. The initiative demonstrates how targeted community-level investment can yield tangible economic returns while addressing youth unemployment.
