HH has Granted Official State Funeral to Mutumba Bull

Zambia will observe a day of national mourning for former Cabinet Minister Mutumba Bull, who served in the UNIP government, after President Hakainde Hichilema granted her an official state funeral.

Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa said the honour recognises Dr Bull's invaluable service to the nation.

Dr Bull, who served as Cabinet Minister from 1973 to 1983 under the United National Independence Party government, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, in Lusaka.

She will be laid to rest on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Leopards Hill Memorial Park, with the official programme beginning with a church service at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross at 10:00 hours.

President Hichilema has declared Thursday a Day of National Mourning, to be observed from 06:00 to 18:00 hours.

During this period, all entertainment programmes on radio and television will be suspended and flags will fly at half-mast across the country.
