Government Delivers 82 New Secondary Schools, Benefiting Over 32,000 Learners
The Zambian government has achieved a significant milestone in its education transformation agenda with the successful completion of 82 new secondary schools under the World Bank-supported Zambia Education Enhancement Project (ZEEP), representing a 60 million US dollar investment in the nation's future.
The government-led initiative directly addresses critical challenges in the education sector, including improving transition rates to higher grades, expanding boarding facilities, and delivering on the administration's commitment to bridge the education divide between rural and urban communities.
World Bank Country Manager Ackim Fock confirmed that the schools have been strategically distributed across seven provinces, reflecting government's deliberate focus on equitable development and inclusive growth.
Education Minister Douglas Syakalima highlighted the immediate impact of the government's investment, noting that over 32,000 learners are already benefiting from these state-of-the-art facilities. The achievement demonstrates the administration's unwavering commitment to expanding access to quality education and investing in Zambia's human capital development.
