Chingola Gang Leaders to be Charged With Murder

The Chingola Magistrate has committed to the High Court Victor Phiri, 20, otherwise known as ‘C4’ and three others in a case in which they will be charged with murder and attempted murder.

Phiri, part of the notorious gang culture that has so blighted the Copperbelt in recent years, had been part of the groups that had been terrorizing the community in Chingola and neighbouring towns.

It is alleged in the first count that the four men acting with other unknown persons murdered Musonda Makumba on the 21st of May 2018.

The second count alleges that the four, again acting with other unknown persons, unlawfully caused the death of Aaron Kanduli on 27th May 2018.

The Chingola Magistrate, Kalutwe Chiluba, informed Phiri, his elder brother Martin Phiri, 21, commonly known as ‘Martinego’, John Mulenga, 21, also known as ‘John KG’ and a juvenile that the Court had been instructed to commit them to the High Court for trial.

Having seen the committal certificate issued by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) certifying that this was a proper case for trial by the High Court Chiluba said that he had acted accordingly.
