ECZ Ready for 2026 General Election
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) says it is ready to conduct the 2026 General Election in a free, fair and transparent manner.
ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis says the Commission remains committed to delivering credible elections in line with its constitutional mandate.
Speaking in Lusaka during a stakeholders’ engagement on election preparedness, Ms. Zaloumis dismissed claims that fake ballot papers from Tanzania had been smuggled into Zambia.
She said the allegations were disproved during the verification process, which involved political parties and other stakeholders to ensure transparency.
Ms. Zaloumis urged stakeholders to help fight misinformation and disinformation on election management to safeguard peace.
Meanwhile, ECZ Acting Director of Electoral Operations Winner Mwanamoonga said the Commission will deploy 81,000 poll staff for the election.
He said training of poll staff started on 5th August 2026 and will conclude on 9th August 2026.
