Chinese President Xi Jinping Congratulates President Hichilema on Second Term

Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election as Zambia’s president, pledging to deepen ties between the two countries.

The Chinese president said he and President Hichilema had met twice in recent years and worked together to strengthen bilateral relations, citing deeper political trust, expanding cooperation and closer coordination on international issues.

He said China attaches great importance to its relationship with Zambia and is ready to work with the Zambian leader to implement agreements reached at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

The Chinese leader also pledged to strengthen the two countries’ longstanding friendship, deepen mutual support and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

The aim, he said, is to take the China-Zambia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to “new heights” and deliver greater benefits to both peoples.
