ECZ Revokes Binwell Mpundu’s Accreditation

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has immediately revoked Binwell Mpundu’s accreditation to access the National Results Centre, citing public safety and security concerns.

Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro said the decision was made under Section 77(6) of the Electoral Process Act and Paragraph 11(1)(c) of the Electoral Code of Conduct.

The move follows a video circulating on social media, attributed to Mpundu, in which he allegedly said he was ready to kill during this week’s election.

Kasaro said the remarks could incite violence, trigger public unrest and undermine the peaceful conduct of the electoral process.

Mpundu was accredited after being nominated by the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) on July 30, 2026, through the party’s secretary general.

The ECZ has warned all electoral stakeholders to remain peaceful and comply with the law, stressing that it will take action against any accredited person whose conduct threatens the integrity, security or peaceful conduct of the election.
