ECZ Commits to Declaring Presidential Results within 72 Hours
ECZ has reminded workers that Thursday August 13 will be a public holiday to provide an opportunity for eligible voters to cast their votes.
ECZ Chief Brown Kasaro said the Commission is committed to declaring the Presidential results within 72 hours of the close of the last polling station.
Kasaro explained that only accredited monitors from civil society organisations and agents appointed by candidates are authorised to remain at polling stations during counting.
“The law provides that there is a perimeter of about 400 metres around which the designated person is allowed to get there,” ; voters are advised to leave once they have cast their vote.
Kasaro added that any false or misleading information online about voting procedures, polling stations, ballot papers, election results or the conduct of electoral officials will create unnecessary anxiety threatening peace and public order.
