Police Warn Against Election Misinformation Online

With less than 48 hours to election day, Police Inspector General Graphel Musamba has warned social media users against spreading unverified election results, hate speech, incitement and misinformation.

Musamba urged the public to rely on official sources for election results and verify information before sharing it, warning that offenders could be arrested and prosecuted.

He said the Police Service had finalised its election security plan, with increased deployments at polling stations and tallying centres, alongside enhanced patrols and rapid response teams.

Musamba also warned political parties and their supporters against violence and intimidation, saying police would act firmly and impartially against anyone disturbing public order.
