President Hichilema Takes Campaign to Central Province
The President continued his campaign tour in Central Province today. He started in Kapiri Mposhi District greeting large crowds engaging in song and dance waving their flags in support. President Hakainde Hichilema praised the people of Kapiri Mposhi for their significant contribution to the country’s 5 million tonnes of maize in the bumper harvest recording during the 2025/2026 farming season.
The President spoke during a massive rally at the TAZARA Grounds saying the UPND New Dawn Administration will continue to support the agricultural sector to strengthen food security and increase productivity.
The President said that the government will increase the number of fertilizer bags allocated to farmers as Zambia works towards producing 10 million tonnes of maize and 3 million tonnes of soya beans.
He added that the UPND government will continue to reduce fuel prices with the aim of lowering the cost of living for the Zambian people. He reinforced that the price of diesel has already dropped from K32 to K28 with further reforms expected as economic conditions improve.
He assured the students in higher education that the government aims to commit to constructing more student hostels to create a conducive learning environment, as many young people cheered on in support.
The President later travelled to Kabwe District, where thousands turned out in large numbers giving him a warm and enthusiastic welcome.
The President urged Zambians to protect the positive reforms achieved by the UPND New Dawn Administration and vote for the ruling party in the upcoming elections on August 13. He reinforced to the crowd the importance of continuing the UPND’s journey to build on the progress made over the last five years.
He said the reopening of the Zambia-China Mulungushi Textiles factory was successful because of the UPND’s commitment to improving the lives of the people of Kabwe through job creation and industrial revival.
President Hichilema added that the New Dawn Administration restructured Zambia’s debt to successfully restore the economy inherited from the previous administration.
He also said the Free Education policy, now enshrined in law, protects generations to come with the skills they need and meal allowances have allowed students in higher education to focus on their studies.
President Hakainde Hichilema later wrapped up the day’s rallies in Chibombo District, Keembe East and Keembe West where thousands of residents turned out to give him a rousing welcome. He thanked the residents of Chibombo District for their contribution to the bumper maize production.
Tomorrow he will continue his campaign tour to Copperbelt visiting Kafulafuta, Mpongwe, ending the day with a huge rally in Kitwe.
