Ballot Papers Due to Arrive Today Ahead of 2026 General Election

The first consignment of ballot papers for the General Election is expected to arrive in Lusaka today aboard a chartered flight from Dubai.

Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro says the ballot papers are scheduled to land at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport at 09:00 hours.

Mr Kasaro says political parties, civil society organisations, faith-based organisations, members of the media and other stakeholders have been invited to witness the arrival of the ballot papers. Those attending have been requested to report to the airport by 08:00 hours.

Meanwhile, the ECZ has announced that the verification of the ballot papers will commence on Saturday, 1 August, at the Commission's Silverest Warehouse in Chongwe.

Mr Kasaro says all stakeholders and media personnel intending to observe the verification exercise must first obtain accreditation from the Commission. They will also be required to present both their National Registration Card (NRC) and ECZ accreditation card before being granted access to the venue.
