Day Two in Muchinga: President Hichilema Visits Nakonde, Mafinga, Isoka & Chinsali
President Hakainde Hichilema has outlined a series of development commitments for Muchinga Province, with infrastructure, agriculture, employment and economic growth taking centre stage during community engagements in Nakonde, Mafinga, Isoka and Chinsali.
In Nakonde, President Hichilema said the ongoing construction of the international airport at Mwenzo would create investment opportunities, jobs for local youths and improve connectivity by allowing residents to access international travel without first going through Lusaka.
He also pointed to the Nakonde One-Stop Border Post as another key investment already contributing to employment. The President further pledged improvements to the area's water supply and communication network, while assuring farmers of increased FISP beneficiaries and timely payments by the Food Reserve Agency during the upcoming grain marketing season.
In Mafinga, the President announced that the constituency's increased allocation of K80 million under the Constituency Development Fund, following delimitation, would be used to improve feeder roads. He said better road infrastructure would ease the transportation of farm produce in the district, which has played a significant role in Zambia's record maize harvest. President Hichilema also pledged to expand the number of FISP beneficiaries and construct additional communication towers to address longstanding network challenges.
Meanwhile, Isoka is set for a major economic boost with the planned establishment of a large-scale phosphate mine, the first of its kind in the district.
President Hichilema said the project would create employment opportunities for local youths and stimulate economic growth. He also reaffirmed his government's commitment to upgrading the Isoka-Muyombe Road, improving feeder roads and enhancing water infrastructure.
Additionally, he directed that volunteer nurses who attended the meeting be identified for possible recruitment, underscoring his administration's continued focus on job creation and strengthening public services. The President wrapped up the day in Chinsali, pointing to Free Education and an expanded CDF, promising to continue delivering development for all Zambians.
