HH Takes the Campaign Tour to Muchinga
President Hakainde Hichilema has begun his campaign tour of Muchinga Province, highlighting his administration’s development programmes and urging residents to support continuity ahead of the August 13 general elections.
The President started his engagements in Lavushimanda District, citing the introduction of Free Education, the School Feeding Programme, Social Cash Transfer, Constituency Development Fund and Cash for Work.
He also announced that the government would work on the Mpika-Serenje Road and the Mpika-Chiunda Ponde Road to improve transport and stimulate economic activity.
The President later addressed residents in Mpika, where he pledged continued investment in infrastructure and social programmes. He said improving urban, peri-urban and rural roads remains a priority for the government to support economic growth and improve access to services.
He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring that markets and bus stations remain free from political violence and intimidation.
The Muchinga tour continued in Kanchibiya, where President Hichilema assured that the government will increase the number of beneficiaries under the Farmer Input Support Programme –FISP- and the Social Cash Transfer programme in the constituency.
Concluding the day’s engagements in Shiwang'andu, President Hichilema focused on peace, democracy and economic recovery.
The President also said he signed Bill 7 into law to increase the representation of women, young people and other groups in Parliament. He affirmed that the legislation will result in better parliamentary representation following the election.
President Hichilema urged the people of Muchinga Province to support the UPND in the August elections to continue implementing development programmes across the country.
