Hamasaka Urges Media to Verify Information Before Publishing
State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka has called on media houses to publish only verified information, stressing the role journalists play in shaping public opinion.
Speaking at an interactive meeting with media managers and editors from community and private radio stations on the Copperbelt, Hamasaka urged caution over the material disseminated to the public. He encouraged editors to verify all information ahead of publication, including content claimed to originate from government sources.
Hamasaka said all government departments remain open to journalists seeking information, and assured media houses of continued government support as their various operational challenges are considered.
He added that President Hakainde Hichilema wants journalists to carry out their work freely, a departure from previous years when some programmes were disrupted by political cadres.
