IMF Congratulates President Hichilema on Re-election, Pledges Continued Support

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election, and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Zambia's development agenda during his new term in office.

In a letter to the President, the Fund extended its best wishes for a successful term and welcomed what it described as the very close engagement between Zambia and the IMF.

The Fund commended the Zambian authorities for their steadfast efforts in implementing sound economic policies and ambitious reforms under President Hichilema's leadership, noting the progress made in stabilising the economy and restoring confidence.

"Let me assure you, Mr President, of the International Monetary Fund's unequivocal commitment to supporting Zambia's ambitious developmental agenda," the letter read.

The IMF said it looked forward to working closely with the President and his administration to further strengthen the partnership and advance the shared objective of building a prosperous Zambia.

The message adds to a growing list of congratulations from international institutions and world leaders following the President's re-election, reflecting continued global confidence in Zambia's reform trajectory and its economic direction.
