FRA Exceeds Muchinga Maize Purchase Target

The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has bought more than 98,000 metric tonnes of maize from farmers in Muchinga Province, comfortably overshooting the target it set for the province this marketing season.

FRA Regional Manager Robinson Nyambe told ZNBC News that the agency had originally planned to buy 65,000 metric tonnes in Muchinga, a figure it has now passed by more than 50 percent.

Mr Nyambe said farmers in the province have so far been paid over 280 million Kwacha for the maize delivered to FRA depots.

He added that buying will continue across Muchinga as the marketing season progresses, with the agency remaining open to farmers still bringing their crop to market.
