Madison Life Invests Over K100,000 in University Scholarships

Madison Life Insurance Company has invested more than K100,000 in scholarships for five students at five public universities, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to higher education and investing in Zambia's future.

Speaking at the HELSB-MLife Scholarship Cocktail in Lusaka, MLife Managing Director Agness Chakonta said the partnership with the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) is creating valuable opportunities for young people to pursue their academic ambitions and build successful futures.

The inaugural scholarship programme has benefited students from the University of Zambia, Copperbelt University, Mulungushi University, Kwame Nkrumah University and Chalimbana University.

Ms Chakonta said the scholarships will give the five beneficiaries greater financial support as they continue their studies, while motivating them to excel academically and make a positive contribution to their communities and the nation.

Meanwhile, HELSB Board Chairperson Leonard Mwanza has welcomed increased private-sector investment in higher education, saying partnerships between government and business are key to expanding opportunities for Zambian students.

Mr Mwanza said initiatives such as the HELSB-MLife partnership can help more deserving students pursue higher education and fulfil their potential.

He has encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and use the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills that will contribute to Zambia's development.

The initiative highlights the growing role of private-sector partnerships in empowering young Zambians.
