Increased Production Across All Copperbelt Mines
All mining houses across the Copperbelt have recorded increases in production outputs, Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo has reported.
Minister Matambo reported the positive news during a courtesy call by the European Union (EU) delegation, led by EU Ambassador to Zambia Karolina Stasiak, at the Copperbelt Provincial Administration.
To continue on this positive trajectory, Mopani are aiming to produce three hundred thousand metric tonnes per year to reach their maximum production. Minister Matambo added that this would help to “contribute to the three million metric tonnes which we (as a country) are aiming to achieve by 2030.”
Mining houses including KCM, Mimbula and Lubambe have also reported an increase in copper production.
Minister Matambo thanked the EU for their support in the development of the Lobito Corridor project, which passes through parts of the province, to help the safe transportation of this vital mineral through the country. President Hakainde Hichilema has also been working hard to improve transport links within the province. Minister Matambo added that “The President has worked hard to find money to give to almost all the ten districts of the Copperbelt Province, to do selective township roads, almost all the townships…In short we are working on the road network.”
The call finished by the Copperbelt Province Minister thanking the EU for their continued work to help the development of the country.
