Zambeef Records K2.9bn Gross Profit

Zambeef Products PLC has recorded a gross profit of K2.9 billion and revenue of K8.1 billion in 2025, despite navigating a difficult trading environment.

Chief Executive Officer Faith Mukutu disclosed in the 2025 Company Annual Report that the achievement marked a year-on-year increase of 10.1 percent in revenue and 18.2 percent in gross profit.

Ms Mukutu explained that the operating environment remained challenging due to prolonged load-shedding, which increased reliance on generator fuel and imported electricity, leading to higher operating costs and production disruptions.

Despite these headwinds, the company delivered an operating profit of K640 million, marking an increase of 31.4 percent compared to the prior year.

In line with supporting national food security, Zambeef supplied 26,500 metric tonnes of both winter and early-planted maize to government through the Food Reserve Agency, accounting for nearly 25 percent of total tonnes contracted from commercial farmers.

Ms Mukutu noted that the company continued implementing its medium-term expansion programme totaling $100 million, with investments in cropping, milling, stockfeed, dairy and poultry.

A significant achievement was the launch of the Zambeef Cheese Plant at Huntley Farm in Chisamba, designed to produce up to 3.4 tonnes of cheese daily using locally sourced milk, reducing Zambia's reliance on imported dairy products.
