Arsenal end 22-year wait to be crowned Premier League champions
Arsenal have been crowned 2025-26 Premier League champions, ending a 22-year wait for the title and lifting English football's top prize for the fourth time in the club's history.
The Gunners' coronation was mathematically confirmed on Tuesday 19 May, when Manchester City could only draw 1-1 at Bournemouth, leaving them unable to catch Mikel Arteta's side. Arsenal go into the final weekend on 82 points from 37 games, with a goal difference of plus 43.
The title brings to a close one of the most dominant seasons by an Arsenal side in two decades. The club has finished as runners-up in the previous three campaigns, each time falling short of Manchester City. This year, the pattern was broken. Arsenal led the table for most of the season and held their nerve through a tense run-in.
City finished second on 78 points, ahead of Manchester United, Aston Villa and Liverpool, with all five qualifying for next season's Champions League. Liverpool's fifth-place finish secured the Europa League spot, and Brighton claimed the Conference League place.
At the other end of the table, West Ham were relegated to the Championship for the first time since 2011-12, joining Burnley and Wolves in next season's second tier. Tottenham, under Roberto De Zerbi, narrowly avoided the drop after a final-day win over Everton.
Erling Haaland finished as the league's top scorer with 27 goals, while Bruno Fernandes broke the single-season assists record with 21.
