Copper Queens Supported by Avram Grant, Zambia Men's Coach.

In an interview with Zambian Football Association (ZFA), Avram Grant Zambia’s head coach for the men’s team backed the Copper Queens in the Women’s World Cup.

The Copper Queens have already made history in their participation in the World Cup, being the first team from a land-locked African nation to ever qualify for the competition.

However, Grant believes that their achievement won’t stop there, saying that “The team is ready” and “anything is possible”.

Armed with the combination between incredible captain Barbra Banda and her striking partner Rachel Kundananji, the Copper Queens will be a powerful force at the World Cup, one which Grant considers to be the toughest in their tournament group.

Zambia have been allocated to Group C, along with Japan, Costa Rica, and Spain. These teams, according to Grant are no match for the Copper Queens’ “spirit” which he perceives to be their greatest asset.

Grant told ZFA that “It doesn't matter who the favourites are, the most important thing is what you do on the pitch” and believes that “If they (the Copper Queens) can bring their spirit from training to the pitch and do their best” the Zambian team could defy all expectations.

Earlier this week, President Hakainde Hichilema encourages the team’s spirit over video call, who said the team was “a total package”, before telling the players that “We love all of you in your respective roles”.

Additionally, when asked by Hichilema whether she was “ready to score”, captain Banda assured the president with confidence, saying it would be “no problem”.
