Civil Service Commission Launches Volunteer Health Worker Recruitment

The Civil Service Commission has started the process of recruiting volunteer health workers into the public service following a directive from President Hakainde Hichilema.

Commission Chairperson Dr Choolwe Beyani says the Commission has finished receiving application documents from provinces where the Presidential directive has already been implemented.

Addressing journalists in Lusaka today, Dr Beyani said the applications are currently undergoing verification to ensure all candidates meet the eligibility requirements set out under the directive.

He said the recruitment drive is being carried out across the country and has attracted considerable public interest, adding that the Commission is working to complete the exercise as efficiently as possible.

Dr Beyani further announced that the Commission will soon begin receiving applications from the remaining provinces where the directive is yet to be implemented, ensuring that all qualifying volunteer health workers are given the opportunity to apply.

Meanwhile, Dr Beyani reminded prospective applicants that the deadline for applications under the separate recruitment exercise for 2,600 health workers remains Friday, 7 August 2026. He stressed that no extension will be granted.
