Govt Eyes New 10-Year Transport Policy

Government has begun formulating a new 10-year National Transport and Logistics Policy for 2026–2036, alongside a comprehensive implementation plan.

Transport and Logistics Permanent Secretary Fredrick Mwalusaka says the policy will be developed following a mid-term review of the 2019–2028 National Transport Policy and its logistics component.

Speaking in Lusaka during the opening of a review workshop, Mr Mwalusaka urged participants to actively contribute their expertise, insights and experiences, saying these will be crucial in shaping the future of the country’s transport and logistics sector.

The review is being undertaken by ROM Transportation Engineering Limited of Israel under the World Bank-financed Transport Corridors for Economic Resilience (TRACER) Project, following the signing of a consultancy contract in May 2026.
