CDF Backs More Than 75 Development Projects in Chililabombwe

More than 75 development projects have been implemented in Chililabombwe District using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) resources, with spending focused on healthcare, education, infrastructure and local commerce.

Director of Engineering Services Goodson Nkanka said CDF funding has supported the construction of the district’s first maternity annexes in Kawama, Silwizya Ward and Fitobaula. New classroom blocks have also been built in Kasumbalesa and Anoya Zulu wards and at Kakoso Combined School.

Infrastructure investment includes the construction of Nakatindi and Kamenza East markets, designed to support local trade. Other projects include new crossing points, pothole repairs and gravel road works, alongside the procurement of machinery and an ambulance to improve service delivery.

CDF Chairperson Pastor Steven Kase said increased government allocations have enabled authorities to address more community priorities simultaneously and accelerate projects across the district.

Director of Planning Marlon Chisala said the creation of a second constituency in Chililabombwe should allow for more targeted planning and monitoring of future CDF projects.

Residents have also reported improved access to services, with the new maternity facilities reducing travel distances for women seeking maternal healthcare.
