Ministry of Mines Launches Podcast

The Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development has launched a podcast aimed at improving communication and transparency around the country's mining sector.

The platform is intended to keep a wide range of stakeholders - from investors and industry players to the general public - informed about the Ministry's activities, legal reforms and policy developments.

Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana, who officially launched the podcast in Lusaka, commended the Ministry of Mines for investing in communication infrastructure and urged other government ministries and departments to follow suit, saying budgeting for communication should be a deliberate priority across government.

Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary Dr Hapenga Kabeta said the podcast reflects the central role the mining sector plays in the country's economic transformation. He said effective communication of legal and policy reforms is essential, particularly as government works towards its target of producing three million metric tonnes of copper annually - a milestone with significant implications for revenue, jobs and industrial development.

The launch comes as the mining sector attracts growing international attention, with major investments under way and policy reforms designed to make the sector more competitive and transparent.
