Trump: “Let the Oil Flow” as Iran and US agree deal to end conflict

The Strait of Hormuz will be reopened as mediator Pakistan confirm the US and Iran have agreed a deal to end the war. The deal is expected to be formally signed later this week in Switzerland. The agreement is yet to be published, while significant negotiations remain to be resolved including over Iran’s nuclear programme.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said that Iran hopes resolutions on Tehran’s nuclear programme will end within a 60-day timeframe, adding that discussion over economic reconstruction following the war will also be negotiated within this time period.

Darin Selnick, former deputy chief of staff to US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, said the United States' primary concern is securing meaningful negotiations with Iran over the future of its nuclear programme. Selnick added that if talks fail to make sufficient progress, the Trump administration could consider further measures, including the possibility of renewed military action.

In spite of the US-Iran deal, the Israeli defence minister said that Israel will continue to occupy parts of Lebanon, Syria and Gaza “indefinitely.” Yet, Iran has insisted that any deal with the US must also include a ceasefire in Lebanon, this highlights unresolved concerns that may require further negotiation to ensure the deal’s success.
