Haimbe - International partnerships have increased investment attraction for Zambia
Mulambo Haimbe, Minister of Foreign Affairs says that strengthened international partnerships with Belgium, Sweden, Equatorial Guinea and Japan have increased economic opportunities for Zambia, aiming to advance diplomatic relations through international visibility, investment and trade promotion.
The Minister emphasised Zambia’s contribution to the Africa Political Outlook Summit in Brussels, Belgium drawing attention to initiatives such as the Zambia-DRC battery value chain project, showing their commitment to regional industrialisation via renewable energy expansion. ZANIS reports that infrastructure projects such as the Lobito Corridor bolster their position as a trade hub.
Zambia seeks to develop stronger diplomatic relations for investment in energy, infrastructure and critical minerals via collaboration with senior European Union officials under the EU Global Gateway Strategy.
The minister disclosed that following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during a working visit to Stockholm, Sweden, Zambia have reached a turning point in bilateral relations regarding energy, transport and agriculture.
Mr Haimbe upheld Zambia’s commitment to the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) to promote international visibility.
He added that Zambia aims to solidify cooperation with Japan in mining, agriculture, infrastructure development, and investment. Zambia recently hosted the Japanese Foreign Affairs Minister to support the government's industrial plan. Alongside continued communication with Japanese companies to invest in the critical minerals industry.
Mr Haimbe affirms that international efforts have supported Zambia’s international visibility, fortified diplomacy, and increased investor confidence in the country’s economy.
