Government has introduced 16 Bills to the National Assembly, including the Free Education Bill

The Education Amendment Bill No. 6 seeks to introduce free education. Making free education law has been one of President Hakainde Hichilema's key priorities before the dissolution of Parliament.

The Free Education Bill was presented by Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima and was subsequently read for the first time and referred to the Committee on Education, Science and Technology.

Mr Syakalima also presented the Higher Education Amendment Bill.

Finance Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane presented the Pensions Scheme Regulation Amendment Bill, aimed at revising the composition of the Board of the Pensions and Insurance Authority.

Dr Musokotwane also presented the Public-Private Partnership Amendment Bill to revise the composition of the Public-Private Partnership Council.

Acting Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Sylvia Masebo presented the Public Roads Amendment Bill.

Ms Masebo, who is also Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, presented the Land Survey Amendment Bill aimed at revising the composition of the Survey Control Board.

Vice-President Mutale Nalumango presented the Anti-Gender-Based Violence Amendment Bill to revise the composition of the Anti-Gender-Based Violence Committee.

Acting Minister of Justice Douglas Syakalima presented the Legal Aid Amendment Bill, while Minister of Agriculture Reuben Mtolo Phiri presented the Tobacco Amendment Bill.

Other Bills presented include the Metrology Amendment Bill, the National Health Insurance Amendment Bill, the Business Regulatory Amendment Bill, the National Arts Council of Zambia Amendment Bill, the National Council for Construction Amendment Bill, the Health Professions Amendment Bill, the National Youth Development Council Amendment Bill, and the Nurses and Midwives Amendment Bill.
