Katotobwe unveiled as PeP presidential candidate, Tembo to run as deputy
Luapula Member of Parliament Hon. Chanda Katotobwe has been unveiled as the Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) presidential candidate ahead of the August 13 General Election.
In an unusual shift within the party's leadership structure, PeP founder and party president Sean Tembo will run alongside Hon. Katotobwe as his Running Mate, taking the deputy slot on the ticket, an arrangement that has raised eyebrows given Mr. Tembo's continued role at the helm of the party.
Mr. Tembo, who founded the Patriots for Economic Progress and has himself stood as the party's presidential candidate in past elections without success, will now throw his weight behind Hon. Katotobwe's bid for State House.
The PeP ticket joins an increasingly crowded field preparing to face off on August 13, where smaller parties will be competing for relevance against more established political forces.
