UN Agency Praises Zambia's Economic Turnaround

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has praised Zambia's economic reforms under President Hakainde Hichilema, highlighting the country's impressive growth and diversification efforts.

UNCTAD has commended Zambia for successfully turning its landlocked position into a trade advantage, noting that the country is outpacing many economies in the global south.

The UN trade and development body specifically recognised Zambia's debt restructuring efforts and fiscal reforms as a model for other developing nations.

UNCTAD highlighted Zambia's strategic focus on value addition, processing, and manufacturing as key drivers for creating jobs, increasing revenue, and promoting industrial growth.

The international recognition has been reinforced by recent approvals from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), signalling confidence in Zambia's economic recovery.

The endorsement from UNCTAD strengthens Zambia's position in global trade circles and is expected to help attract further investment.

UNCTAD's praise positions the country for sustained economic growth through enhanced production, industrialisation, and improved market access.
