Decision on ECL Burial Appeal Put on Hold
The Pretoria High Court was expected to deliver its decision today, Monday 18 August 2025, on an application for leave to appeal its earlier judgment concerning the late President Edgar Lungu’s burial.
However, following an appeal to the Constitutional Court, the Pretoria High Court has opted to postpone its decision until the matter is heard.
The presiding judges stated, “by agreement, the application for leave to appeal is postponed.”
This postponement adds to the series of delays that have already marked the case. Each delay prolongs the uncertainty, leaving Zambians still waiting to learn where and how their late president will finally be laid to rest.
No new date has been set for when a ruling will be delivered.
