President Hichilema Leading Zambians to the Promised Land - Cornelius Mweetwa
Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has likened President Hakainde Hichilema to a biblical figure delivering Zambians from corruption and oppression, urging the church to continue praying for him.
Speaking at the SDA Mosi-Oa-Tunya Conference Music Rally on Saturday, Mweetwa praised President Hichilema’s leadership, saying it has promoted equality, peace, and national unity.
“We know this is a President who has led God’s people out of poverty, violence and corruption. There are no more superiority antics. We all feel equal as Zambians,” said Mweetwa.
He called on the church to support the President through prayer as he faces trials, including controversy surrounding the delayed burial of former President Edgar Lungu.
Mweetwa also reminded the church of its role ahead of the 2026 elections, saying: “Every election is a test, in biblical terms, it’s a temptation for the nation’s political and social stability. We urge the church to pray for the political leadership of this country ceaselessly.”
The government spokesperson concluded by citing the President’s past arrests and challenges as signs of a leader being prepared for greater responsibilities by God.
