Zambia and US Reaffirm Bilateral Partnership

Foreign Affairs Minister Mulambo Haimbe met with US Ambassador to Zambia Michael Gonzales to highlight ongoing Zambia-US relations. Both sides stressed the need to strengthen bilateral ties by reinforcing existing cooperation and addressing recent administrative issues.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Principal Public Relations Officer Eva Hatontola Chanda stated that the discussion included the possibility of the US adding Zambia to the list of 36 countries that could face visa bans or restrictions. Both parties acknowledged the importance of ongoing dialogue to resolve such issues constructively.  

The constructive engagement demonstrated the two nations shared commitment to a partnership based on equal values, respect and openness to dialogue. Gonzales praised the meeting as a positive symbol for their strengthening relationship, highlighting Zambia’s potential and capabilities. Haimbe noted Zambia’s commitment to advancing shared interest with the US, reiterating the benefits of transparency, trust, and mutual understanding

The meeting underscored Zambia’s continued efforts to engage constructively on the global stage and deepen strategic partnerships with key allies like the US.
