HH Urges Zambians to Obtain NRCs Through Mobile Issuance
President Hichilema has urged eligible Zambians to take advantage of the ongoing mobile National Registration Card (NRC) issuance exercise in an effort to boost access to the vital identity document.
Hichilema recalled that during his time in opposition, many people, particularly UPND supporters and the elderly, were denied access to NRCs
“In the recent past, they were denying you from getting the NRC, citing that you are too old. I don't want to hear reports of people being denied NRCs. Anyone, as long as they are Zambian, must be given an NRC no matter their age,” said the President.
The President has also directed the Southern Province Permanent Secretary and all other Provincial Permanent Secretaries (PSs) to withdraw any officers who are found to be
“I am told there is an officer in Namwala who is refusing to give the NRC’s. Report those officers to the authorities,” instructed Hichilema.
The President concluded by reminding those in attendance that the NRC is not only a national identity document but also a gateway for citizens to access key government empowerment programs, such as the Social Cash Transfer, which was expanded to a record 1.3 million households in 2024.
