PF Presidential Aspirant Makebi Zulu Injured in Road Accident

Patriotic Front presidential aspirant Makebi Zulu has been injured in a road accident while travelling to attend the funeral of Kasama Mayor Theresa Kolala Khumalo. The incident occurred on the Mpika–Kasama Road, approximately 25 to 30 kilometres from Kasama, according to party officials.

Mr Zulu was travelling with former Minister of Mines Richard Musukwa and former Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe when their vehicle overturned. The accident happened after the driver swerved to avoid a cyclist who had ridden into the road, causing the vehicle to lose control. All three occupants sustained injuries requiring medical attention.

The trio were taken to Kasama General Hospital by emergency responders, where medical staff began conducting assessments. Initial reports suggest all three were in stable condition upon arrival.

Patriotic Front Acting President Given Lubinda visited the injured officials at the hospital and provided an update to journalists. "I am here at the hospital. They are undergoing tests and x-rays just to rule out anything. They are also waiting to see a doctor after the test results," he said, confirming that the three remained under observation while diagnostic procedures were carried out.

Mr Lubinda explained that Mr Zulu, Mr Musukwa and Mr Kabwe had been travelling to Kasama for the funeral and burial of Ms Kolala, a Central Committee member who died last week. Several senior PF members were expected to attend the funeral proceedings.

Medical personnel at Kasama General Hospital are expected to release further updates once examinations are completed. Party officials said they were awaiting full medical reports before determining whether any of the three would require referral to another facility.
