CSC Recruits 2,000 Heath Workers

The Civil Service Commission has launched recruitment for 2,000 health workers as government moves to address staffing shortages in the sector.

The recruitment will take place in two phases, with existing health workers first being considered for promotions before new appointments are made, Acting Civil Service Commission Chairperson Louis Siandyabantu announced in Lusaka on Tuesday.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the steering committee overseeing the recruitment process, Mr Siandyabantu said the exercise would be completed "within the shortest possible time".

He praised President Hakainde Hichilema's administration for its commitment to tackling staff shortages across various government sectors.

Unlike previous recruitments, the process will not involve public advertisements. Instead, specially appointed committees will work under defined terms of reference to identify suitable candidates.

Mr Siandyabantu urged committee members to maintain the highest standards of integrity, impartiality and objectivity throughout the process.

"I call for strict confidentiality and professionalism during this recruitment," he said.

The move comes as the county’s health sector continues to face significant staffing challenges, particularly in rural areas where shortages of doctors, nurses and other medical personnel have affected service delivery.
