President Hichilema Says Anti-Corruption Fight Bearing Fruit, Calls Youth Key Partners
President Hakainde Hichilema says the fight against corruption is bearing fruit as public resources are being saved from wastage.
Speaking at the International Anti-Corruption Day commemoration at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka yesterday, President Hichilema said prudent utilization of public resources has resulted in gains such as the free education policy and creation of employment opportunities.
The President expressed displeasure with some sections of society who try to protect those abusing public resources and called on the nation not to support corruption.
He said all citizens should play a part in fighting corruption as it will benefit society at large.
President Hichilema identified youths as great partners in the fight against corruption, urging them not to tolerate corruption as it takes away their opportunities.
He said it is important to work with young people in combating corruption and urged them to be more vigilant in providing checks and balances.
The President also said the educational curriculum should be sharpened to make the fight against corruption one of the values children grow up with.
ACC Board Chairperson Justice Evans Hamaundu called for active youth involvement in decision-making, policy development and community accountability initiatives, assuring the nation that ACC is committed to combating corruption professionally and impartially.
This year's International Anti-Corruption Day is being commemorated under the theme "Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow's Integrity".
