President Hakainde Hichilema Pays Tribute to Philip Kabimba
President Hakainde Hichilema has described the late Philip Kabimba, father of former Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba, as a wise and principled man who always stood for the truth. Kabimba, aged 83, passed away last Friday after a long illness.
The President joined mourners in Shimwete Village, Shibuyunji District, to pay his last respects. During a courtesy call on Chief Shakumbila before the burial service, President Hichilema recalled Kabimba Senior as a loyal friend and steadfast supporter who believed in his potential to one day lead the nation.
He noted that the construction of the Shibuyunji Road was initiated through Kabimba Senior’s tireless advocacy and unwavering commitment to the development of his community.
President Hichilema praised the late Kabimba’s integrity, emphasising that he never compromised his principles for financial or material gain.
“Mr. Kabimba stood by the Party, the UPND, and by this President, even during times when the party was not fashionable. Therefore, PJ, as he was fondly known, occupies a special place in my heart,” President Hichilema said.
Wynter Kabimba also expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Hichilema for his continued support during his father’s illness.
“I would like to extend special thanks to the President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, for his tireless efforts. There was never a time when my father was unwell that he did not visit him,” Kabimba said.
