HH Urges Diligence and Prudence in Constitution Review Process

President Hakainde Hichilema has emphasised the need for quality work and prudent use of resources as he swore in the Technical Committee on the Constitution making process and Board Members of the Human Rights Commission at State House.

The President stressed that diligence and attention to detail must guide the committee's work as it undertakes the critical task of reviewing the country's constitution.

President Hichilema noted that his administration ensured the technical committee's composition reflects Zambia's diversity, including geographical representation, skill sets, gender balance, and religious representation.

He urged committee members to embrace all citizens and churches while avoiding divisive debates that could polarize the nation during the constitution-making process.

The President also asked the committee to exercise prudence in managing the resources allocated for their work.

Turning to the Human Rights Commission, President Hichilema commended the board for work done during its first term while acknowledging the challenges it faced.

He tasked the commission to address critical national issues including ethnic discrimination and corruption, noting these matters require careful assessment and handling.

The President expressed confidence in the board's ability to discharge its duties with maturity and respect.
