HH welcomes Saudi delegation amidst mining conference
President Hakainde Hichilema received a Saudi Arabian delegation at State House, led by Abdulrahman bin Khalid Albalushi, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Mineral Resources Management.
The Saudi officials are in Zambia to attend the inaugural Mining and Investment Insaka currently underway in the capital.
During the meeting, President Hichilema expressed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia's ongoing support, citing as an example the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Hospital being built in Lusaka. Talks centred on potential joint ventures in key sectors including mining, energy, tourism, and agriculture.
The President emphasised the government's commitment to ensuring that the country's natural resources benefit its citizens through value addition.
He also conveyed Zambia's keen interest in learning from Saudi Arabia's successful management of its oil and gas reserves to enhance the welfare of Zambians.
In a statement posted to his Facebook page, President Hichilema said, “We remain committed to ensure that citizens benefits for the natural resource endowment, through value addition.”
He added, “We are eager to learn how Saudi Arabia has utilised its natural resources such as gas and oil for the benefit of its citizens.”
