University Students Praise New Free Meal Allowance

Over the weekend, students from the University of Zambia marched in solidarity to thank the New Dawn Government for the reintroduction of meal allowances.

The new law will permit students to meal allowances during their studies and will be enacted in 2023.

Levy Ngoma, an adviser to President Hakainde Hichilema, said that it was exciting to see students express their joy for the new policy.

Meanwhile, Elvis Nkandu, Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts, outlined that the reintroduction of meals is only the beginning and that the New Dawn Government will continue to fulfil their campaign promises.

In an open letter, Chimuka Moonga, UNZA Ridgway Student President, outlined her support for the initiative and called for it to be extended to private universities.

The initiation of free university meals showcases the dedication of the New Dawn Government to fulfil manifesto promises and secure economic and social development throughout Zambia.
